Diagnostic Services

Regular cleanings and examinations are not only important for keeping your mouth healthy, but are essential to your overall health. If x-rays are needed, we use low radiation digital technology.

Preventative Services

Our skilled hygienists will help you remain free of gum disease and cavities. Clean teeth look better and feel better and new evidence is suggesting that unhealthy gums can be a factor in heart disease and diabetes.

Tooth Whitening

We offer take home whitening using the Discus Dental Nite/ White product line. There is a bewildering array of tooth whitening options, but we have found the take-home technique to be the most economical and effective option. Some over the counter options don’t work at all and many of the in- office systems utilizing bright lights are expensive and don’t provide results that are any faster or better than the take-home technique.

White Fillings and Bonding

The traditional silver-mercury amalgam fillings, that often turn black, are almost extinct. They have served their purpose, but newer tooth colored composite materials are available. We restore new decay with white fillings and if an old, black filling needs to be replaced, we also use tooth colored composite. Teeth weakened by large older fillings and teeth under a lot of stress usually require a stronger laboratory manufactured ceramic or crown. Many people have heard of porcelain veneers and may remember some of the amazing smile transformations on the “Extreme Makeover” show, but these can be very expensive and complex. Bonding, which is applying tooth colored composite to the front teeth, is an economical, quick option that can also look amazing.

Crowns

For crowns near the front of the smile, we typically use an all ceramic material like E-max or Lava that doesn't contain metal. Traditional porcelain fused to metal crowns in this area of the mouth can sometimes show darkness at the gum line (dark line syndrome). For certain back teeth that aren’t visible and that are severely worn due to high chewing stresses, porcelain fused to metal or even gold, are stronger options.

Cosmetic Porcelain Veneers from daVinci

Veneers are a thin shell of porcelain that can change the color, shape and alignment of your teeth. Stronger than composite bonding, veneers can correct chipped, stained or slightly crooked teeth in two visits. The artisans at daVinci in California create beautiful veneers for our patients.

Implants

If you have lost a key tooth, the best way to replace it with something as close to the natural tooth is with an implant. A bridge is another option, but requires that neighboring teeth be used for support. A removable partial could be an option, but is the least natural as partials are bulky and can move around. Think of an implant as a titanium root. If you have enough bone, the implant is placed into the jaw. When the bone has grown into the implant and anchored it solidly, a porcelain crown is attached to the implant to complete the process.

Pedodontics (dentistry for children)

Young children enjoy watching cartoons on the monitors above our chairs while they have their teeth cleaned or even during fillings. We also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for our younger patients.

Endodontics (root canal treatment)

This much maligned procedure removes sensitive or infected nerve tissue from inside the tooth, eliminating pain and allowing the problem tooth to be saved.

Mouthguards

We can make a football type mouth guard to protect your teeth from wear if you are a night clencher and we also offer the NTI appliance from Keller Laboratories.

For patients that have sore jaw muscles and even headaches from a clenching habit (TMJ), the small NTI appliance snaps on the front teeth and dramatically reduces stressful forces.

Oral Surgery

Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) and Oral Sedation

For those patients who are apprehensive about dental treatment, we offer laughing gas to provide relaxation. We also offer oral sedation, which involves taking a small tablet or two before the appointment. Some patients will take advantage of both options at once. With oral sedation, someone needs to drive you to and from the office.
